This AA award winning, 500 space multi-storey car park in Leeds was designed as part of an office master plan for the Criterion Place site, formally occupied by the Sovereign Street Tram Depot.
The contemporary elevation was the architect’s response to the sloping form of the car park decks. The car park itself is constructed from an in situ concrete frame, finished to a high standard. Careful attention was given to lighting and finishes to achieve a high sense of quality and security to the visitor.
Unusually for a car park, external lighting and indeed the building’s appearance at night were considered from an early stage, enabling the building to stand proud within its urban surrounding.
A critical part of the building’s design is the incorporation of an A3 usage to the ground floor. Bibi’s, one of Leeds’ favourite eating institutions, occupies this, the fit out for which was also engineered by Hill Cannon.
