The proposed scheme at Etherley Moor, Bishop Auckland is a residential development consisting of 145 new build houses with private garden areas, private driveways/off street parking, tree lined boulevard on the main access road into the development, landscaped SUDS attenuation basin and substantial open space landscaped areas throughout the development.
Hill Cannon were appointed to provide Civil and Structural Engineering design services associated with the infrastructure and foundation designs for the proposed housing scheme. The design included detailed roads, surface and foul water drainage design to satisfy the Highway Authority, Lead Local Flood Authority and Northumbrian Water Ltd. which includes an innovative and complex SUDS basin and other SUDS features to provide on-site attenuation and water quality mitigation in accordance with Durham County Council SUDS guidance/policy. The detailed design has also involved the plotworks and earthworks design associated with all 145 plots including detailed ground modelling in an attempt to minimise movement of material on and off site. Ground conditions have also been a key factor when undertaking the detailed design with mine workings, on-site mine shafts and existing trees and hedges to consider which have impacted on the foundation designs undertaken by Hill Cannon.
The detailed Engineering design undertaken by Hill Cannon was vital in satisfying key planning conditions associated with the Outline Planning Permission in which to secure the Reserved Matters Planning Permission associated with Kenley Homes first housing development.
